Rolling Stories: A Collective Tribute to the Drivers of See Me Rolling

At See Me Rolling, our drivers are more than the people behind the wheel—they’re storytellers, explorers, community ambassadors, and the heartbeat of our mission. Their experiences, backgrounds, and personalities shape every mile, every stop, and every curious glance from those that pass by.

This piece is dedicated to them—told through shared themes, punctuated with their own words, and connected by the road that brings them all together.

How Their Journeys Began

Drivers find their way to See Me Rolling through all kinds of paths.

For Paul Marick, it began with friendships. “I’m friends with Tom and Jamie,” Paul shares, explaining that the job gives him the flexibility to make extra cash while still traveling to Kenya for the philanthropic work he and his wife do.

Rick W. came onboard after Tom approached him during retirement, recognizing that Rick’s easygoing nature and dependability made him a perfect fit.

Eric Ashley heard about the job through his wife’s networking group and thought, “I like driving, and it seemed fun.” Nearly three years later, he’s still enjoying the open road.

And Randy Kemp? A simple Facebook ad pulled him in. With a career spent in marketing, he immediately saw the value and excitement in driving a mobile billboard. Now, nearly two years in, Randy calls it “a perfect part-time job.”

Despite different origins, their stories overlap in powerful ways. Many were recently retired, shifting careers, or looking for fulfilling part-time work. All were drawn in by the same promise: flexibility, independence, and fun.

A Day in the Life: What Driving Really Looks Like

Ask four drivers what a typical day is like, and you’ll get four completely different—yet totally aligned—answers.

Paul describes his days as “entertaining,” filled with conversations sparked by the truck’s magnetic presence.
Eric plans out “4–5 stops in high-visibility areas I’ve scouted out,” treating each shift like a strategic adventure.
Rick enjoys finding the perfect parking spot and then “taking a walk or doing a crossword,” letting the day unfold peacefully.
Randy keeps music blasting while taking photos and videos for customers, capturing real-time examples of their ads at work.

What ties all these experiences together? The knowledge that no two days are ever the same.

Favorite Moments on the Road

Memorable days come often for See Me Rolling drivers. For our drivers, it’s about experiencing communities, events, and moments from a front-row seat on wheels.

Paul lights up when he talks about “driving in parades—so much fun.”

Eric still remembers his multi-day job at the Little League World Series, calling it “very cool.”

Randy can rattle off a highlight reel: the lively Latino Celebration in Lancaster, Give Local York, and Penn State football games that buzz with energy.

Rick’s favorites are quieter but just as meaningful—working in the bustling York area where “there are lots of places to park with high traffic.”

The Reactions: Curiosity at Every Corner

One thing every driver agrees on? The trucks spark reactions everywhere they go.

Paul describes “a lot of stares, questions, and curiosity,” which often turn into friendly conversations.
Rick says people are always “amazed at how the truck can change ads.”
Eric recalls constant “curious looks,” with people calling the trucks “cool.”

It’s not uncommon for pedestrians to stop mid-stride, whip out their phones, or come right up to the driver with a stream of questions.

And for all the attention, our drivers offer simple wisdom to anyone thinking of joining the team:

Rick: “Be patient with traffic, especially if you’ve never driven a truck before.”
Paul: “Be ready to chat with a lot of people—they're intrigued.”
Eric: “Great job if you love driving and working with great people.”
Randy: “It truly is a family atmosphere.”

What Fuels Them—Literally and Figuratively

Behind every shift is the soundtrack and snack selection that sets the tone.

Paul bounces between Metallica and learning Swahili.
Rick’s go-to is Metallica’s “Sad But True.”
Eric opts out of music entirely, choosing sports and political podcasts instead.
Randy? As a drummer, music is with him “all day.”

Snacks range from apples and protein bars to coffee (always coffee) and water. Rick is loyal to his Sheetz sausage-egg-and-cheese “shmiscuit,” to which we say: respect.

A Final Word to Our Drivers

To Paul, Rick, Eric, Randy, and every driver who keeps our wheels turning—thank you.

Thank you for the miles.
Thank you for the conversations.
Thank you for the laughs, the playlists, the photos, and the pride you bring to See Me Rolling.

You don’t just drive the truck.
You drive curiosity.
You drive the story.
